I cannot find any other gin that is dry and gives that pleasant bite that Beefeater does. The original formula is very pleasant straight up on the rocks as well. I've tried the '24' blend on a few occasions but it does not please my taste buds. I find the '24' blend rather sticky and wet. Maybe I'm going mad? Who knows? Beefeater 24 delivers, though doesn't replace its lower-shelf (and classic cousin). The Beefeater summer was solid too, but didn't deliver the same "oomph" that you say makes it such a good mixing gin. Though I really enjoyed your review. Not many liquor blogs take time to look at the classics, and I think you do a good job of highlighting why Beefeater is an enduring classic.
