The Drink with No Name

by sylvan

As lame as the name of this drink is, it’s actually pretty good.
Invented by Phil Harrington in Cocktails, I first had it off the menu at ZigZag in Seattle. It’s actually surprisingly good, better than one would think from the ingredients list.

The Drink with No Name

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz green Chartreuse
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau (Patron Citronge)

Stir and strain. Serve up with an orange peel garnish.

The orange liqueur mellows out and balances the Chartreuse which worked well with the drink. I used Oval vodka primarily because I had a free bottle handy, but any mellow vodka would be fine.

By the bye, Phil Harrington is now running a very nice high end restaurant and cocktail bar in Spokane called Clover.
